I have been in this online business for several years now and have gained some experience over this period. Here, I share some practical, tried and tested tips how to write a blog post that is easily readable and SEO-friendly.
Simple Writing Tips for Good Blog Post
Experienced Bloggers can start writing their post straight in the post editor. Some of them have gained good experience over time and can write good blog posts with their natural writing skills. However, most Bloggers, including myself, need help. I first write on a text editor such as MS-Word, make all the necessary editing and then paste in the blog post text editor. And I believe this is the correct way to do it.
1. What do you want to write?
Think about all possible questions and their answers and note down. What message do you want to convey through your post and want do you exactly want your readers to do after reading the post?
2. Format your post
Once you are clear about your content, make a clear structure of your post. Start with an introduction paragraph, accommodate your target keyword and make clear right at the beginning what is post is all about. Introduction paragraph must be followed by main body and a small summary or conclusion.
3. Break post into paragraphs
Break your post into paragraphs. Do not write too long or too short paragraphs. A paragraph of 5-6 lines offers good readability. Again, do not start a new paragraph uselessly just to make your post look good. Be sensible. Every paragraph must have its own importance and meaning. Avoid paragraphs if the idea can be explained in a single sentence.
4. Use Headings
This is a very important point to keep in mind. Headings and subheadings give a clean and clear structure to your post. Search engine bots are able to index a well structured post easily and understand what the post is all about. A SEO friendly blog post will have 3 headings:
- Heading 1: This is reserved for the Title of the post. Do dot use Heading 1 in between the post.
- Heading 2: Use this heading to break the important sections of your post. Using two to three Heading-2 is more than enough any blog post. Do not over use.
- Heading 3: Use heading 3 for main topics instead of BOLD.
5. Proofread your post
Before hitting the publish button, proofread your post and correct any errors. Avoid spelling and grammatical mistakes. It is also a good idea to ask someone to read the post before publishing and give opinion if the topic of the post was clear or not.
